New Publication: AI in Pre-Hospital Tele-Emergency Medicine
I am pleased to announce the release of the new book “Künstliche Intelligenz im Einsatz für die erfolgreiche Patientenreise” (Artificial Intelligence in Use for a Successful Patient Journey), edited by Prof. Mario A. Pfannstiel.
I had the privilege of co-authoring the chapter titled “Technische Ansätze, Konzepte und Herausforderungen beim Einsatz von KI in der prähospitalen Telenotfallmedizin” alongside my colleagues Pia Thoma, Konstantin Piliuk, Emma Kneitinger, and Prof. Sven Tomforde.

About the Chapter
In the fast-paced world of emergency medicine, practitioners are confronted with an ever-increasing flood of data. Our work focuses on how Intelligent Decision Support Systems (IDSS) can provide critical assistance when time and information resources are most limited.
In this chapter, we explore:
- Technical Approaches: AI methods tailored for the unique pressures of tele-emergency medicine.
- Key Challenges: Tackling data diversity and the reality of missing or incomplete datasets.
- Ethics & Security: Navigating the essential requirements of data protection and anonymization in a clinical context.
This research was developed as part of the KIT2 project (AI-supported Tele-Emergency Doctor), funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). We are grateful to all our project partners for the successful collaboration from 2022 through 2025.
